The faculty announces the loss of Ivan Ogorodnyk
The Faculty of Philosophy with deep sorrow announces that on July 30, 2021, at the age of 84, the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher, famous scientist and educator, one of the founders of research in the history of Ukrainian philosophy in the Modern History of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Philosophy and Culture at Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University Ivan Vasilievich Ogorodnyk passed away.
Ivan Vasylyovych graduated from Kiev University's Philosophy Faculty in 1966. From 1992, he worked at Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University at the department of Ukrainian philosophy and culture. During more than 20 years of work Ivan Vasylyovych trained more than 5 doctors and more than 30 PhDs, published more than 200 scientific works. His textbooks on Ukrainian philosophy became paradigmatic, they were among the first in independent Ukraine, according to which many generations of students and post-graduate students studied then and nowadays. At the department of Ukrainian philosophy and culture Ivan Vaisliovych created a scientific school for the study of the history of Ukrainian philosophy, which today has many students and followers.
The blessed memory of Ivan Vasilievich, an outstanding Ukrainian scientist and pedagogue, will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues, friends, disciples, and followers.
The staff of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of Ivan Vasilyevich.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 12:00 in the crematorium of the Baikove Cemetery.
